09/02/2007: "Fathers Day"
Today is fathers day. My father, Bill LeSueur, is back in Mallacoota, Australia. The nomadic life I lead on a yacht makes it difficult to be as physically close as I would like with those that have influenced me greatly. I admire my father and appreciate the model, discipline and spirit that he inspired and continues to inspire. It would be great to share this day with my father but the tyranny of distance over sea and sky means I can only hope to pass on some of the same traits to my children.
Catherine's father. Arthur Reed, leads a life dramatically different to my father. Never-the-less the same attributes have contributed to the sense of adventure and strength of character that has passed to his Catherine. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that they are both men of the sea. Bill, ex-navy and a lifelong sailor and Arthur, island resort owner and motor cruiser both know the vagarities of life by the weather, life in an environment that requires an awareness of change and respect. They also know the importance of a damn good crew!
Happy Fathers day Bill and Arthur.
Happy fathers day
