05/24/2007: "Wahoo !!!"

Chaotic Harmony trolls two homemade lures - basically a triple barbed hook, a bullet sinker wrapped in a chips packet. They rarely fail us, are cheap to make and replace (the kids like eating Bongo's - a Fiji cheezel thingy).
En route Nasonisoni to Savu Savu we hooked this beauty. It was Baden's turn on the reel. With effort in it was hauled. The wahoo weighted 18kg and was 140cm long. We had just filled the freezer with a smaller Spanish Makeral but as we were only an hour out of Savu Savu we decided to keep it and let the kids sell it at the Market. They made a sign up, we loaded it into the dinghy with a trolley and landed ashore at the Copra Shed. Estelle and Baden has walked less than 10 metres when it was sold! Quick pocket money. The wahoo is one of the oceans quickest fish - attaining speeds of up to 75kmph.
